The gust lock is a safety measure to stop aircraft control surfaces from moving when the aircraft is on the ground parked. The gust lock is pinned to the control column behind the yoke and the rudder linkage in the floor. To insure the gust lock is removed prior to flight, there is a corked yoke that slides around the engine and prop control levers for added safety. We strongly suggest that a control lock that is broken in any way, be immediately replaced to insure that a pin is not inadvertently left installed during operation.
This gust lock is refurbished in our on site repair station, Aircraft & Component Technical Services. It is the approved bright safety red and will come with new cork padding; clean unbroken chain; any appropriate instructional plaques and issued an FAA 8130-3.
